RECTOR OF MOSCOW HUMANITARIAN UNIVERSITY AWARDED ILYAS AFANDIYEV INTERNATIONAL PRIZE
President of the Ilyas Efendiyev Literature and Art Charity Foundation Tural Efendiyev presented the Ilyas Efendiyev International Prize to rector of Moscow Humanitarian University Igor Ilyinskiy during a traditional Bunin Award-giving ceremony held in Moscow on October 22.
Speaking to the audience on the occasion, Tural Efendiyev said that Azerbaijan-Russia cooperation in the fields of culture and education has been considerably enhanced along with developing political and economic relations between the two countries. He pointed out that developments in Russia’s social and cultural life are closely watched in Azerbaijan as many in the country show great interest in Russian culture and art, and particularly, language and literature.
That is why, Efendiyev noted, the foundation bearing the name of the People`s writer of Azerbaijan, State Award Winner, playwright Ilyas Efendiyev, had decided to grant its “For Services to Progress of Enlightenment” award to the Rector of the Moscow Humanitarian University, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Igor Ilyinskiy.
In turn, Prof. Ilyinskiy thanked the president of the Foundation for the award, and said that he had been many times to Azerbaijan with great opportunities to get closely acquainted with the country’s history, culture and arts. He said Azerbaijan is following a specific path of development, which is highly respected in the Russian society and is very promising in terms of further enhancement of overall bilateral cooperation between the two countries and peoples.
The event was attended by prominent Russian poets and writers, scientists, worker of culture, including renowned musicologist Svyatoslav Belza, poet Nikolay Dobronravov and music composer Alexandra Pakhmutova.
