Seminar on bologna programs kicks off in Baku
Baku, February 21 (AZERTAC). A seminar on discussions of doctor of philosophy programs within the bologna process has today been held in Azerbaijan`s capital.
Co-organized by Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Education and Baku State University, the seminar brought together international experts from the European Union`s member countries, including Italy, Belgium, Finland and Sweden.
Azerbaijan`s Minister of Education Misir Mardanov noted the seminar aims to discuss conception and procedures of programs on doctor of philosophy within the suggestions and demands of bologna program in European countries, including Azerbaijan.
He noted the Ministry was attending the EU`s twinning, taiex program since 2009. Mardanov also highlighted the presentation of 10 projects on these programs by the Ministry.
The seminar will see discussions on current state of education in doctor of philosophy program, as well as gaining achievements by various countries in the relevant sphere and improvement of measures in doctoral education.
The event also saw reports by First vice-president of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Arif Hashimov on “National conception of doctor of philosophy degree” and Deputy Chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of Azerbaijan, corresponding member of ANAS Vali Huseynov on “Demands on preparing doctoral dissertations in Azerbaijan”.
Professor at the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium Jan De Groof and Professor of Swedish National Agency for Higher Education Lennart Ståhle also delivered a report at the seminar.
The seminar will end on Friday.
