BAKU TO HOST COE CONFERENCE OF CULTURE MINISTERS

On December 1-4, Baku will be hosting a conference of Ministers responsible for Culture from Council of Europe`s member countries on “Intercultural dialogue as a basis for peace and sustainable development in Europe and its neighboring regions”.

In line with the Warsaw Summit Action Plan and the Council of Europe’s Faro Strategy, and following the publication of the Council of Europe’s White Paper on Intercultural Dialogue in May 20082, the Baku conference is the first event at ministerial level devoted to the practical follow-up of this key policy document and its recommendations in the cultural and heritage sectors. The Baku conference will help move from theory to the practice of dialogue.

During the event, Azerbaijani side is expected to raise awareness of international community about the destruction of cultural monuments in the Azerbaijani territories occupied by Armenia.
