Elchin Yusubov: Azerbaijani cemetery in Khankendi completely destroyed during occupation

“Cultural and religious heritage sites in the region suffered significant damage during the occupation period. The Malibeyli Mosque was partially destroyed, and restoration work is now ongoing,” said Elchin Yusubov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the city of Khankendi, the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, during the event on the Post-conflict Urban Development, organized at the Azerbaijan pavilion as part of WUF13.
He added that the Azerbaijani cemetery in Khankendi was completely destroyed and erased, noting that acts of vandalism affected national, moral, and religious values as well.
The event also featured a video highlighting restoration, construction, and reconstruction efforts in Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly. Participants were informed about ongoing projects focused on post-conflict urban development, preservation of cultural heritage, and the promotion of sustainable living in the region.
