UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy on Water: Billions of people still lack access to safe drinking water and sanitation services
Baku, May 17, AZERTAC
Across the globe, billions of people still lack access to safe drinking water and sanitation services, said Retno L. P. Marsudi, UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy on Water, during a discussion on expanding cooperation in the water sector, strengthening solidarity between operators, and developing sustainable water management held as part of the Assembly of the Global Water Operators' Partnerships Alliance (GWOPA).
According to her, since 2015, millions of people have gained access to safely managed drinking water services.
“By 2030, more than 60 percent of the world’s population is expected to live in cities, which will place additional pressure on urban water resources,” the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy on Water added.
