Zangilan, April 16, AZERTAC
“Russia’s business sector is showing strong interest in ongoing reconstruction and development projects in Azerbaijan’s liberated regions,” said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk in his remarks at the 24th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission.
Overchuk stressed that Russian businesses are being encouraged to take a more active role in projects in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, underscoring that the favorable investment climate supports cooperation.
The Russian Deputy PM highlighted successful examples of Russian business activity in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, pointing to developing cooperation between Jabrayil and St. Petersburg and infrastructure projects in Zangilan with support from the Astrakhan region, alongside expanding humanitarian and cultural ties, including the reopening of the Azerbaijani Musical Drama Theatre in Derbent. He emphasized that these projects serve to expand humanitarian and regional ties between the two countries.
Alexei Overchuk said the education cooperation with Azerbaijan is expanding, noting the wide use of Russian in the country. He added that Russia invites Azerbaijan to join a new international Russian language organization and has proposed joint university projects, school development, and expansion of the “Russian Teacher Abroad” program.
