Final meeting of Grassroots and Civil Society Organizations Assembly held as part of WUF13

The final meeting of the Grassroots and Civil Society organizations Assembly was held on the sidelines of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
The meeting featured discussions on sustainable urban development, inclusive urbanization, building climate-resilient cities and enhancing the role of civil society in decision-making.
Representatives from different countries shared share their views on the future urban development, social equality, affordable housing policies, and the importance of community participation in urban governance.
Addressing the meeting, Gerrit Blomberg highlighted the importance of affordable housing. He underscored the significance of establishing mechanisms holding governments, local communities, civil society and technical partners jointly accountable.
In her remarks, Mino Harvelo Ramaroson mentioned the real needs of local communities and people, while Nduta Nkirote Mmbogori stressed the importance of direct financing.
The session continued with representatives from different countries expressing their views on the future development of cities, social equality, affordable housing policies and the importance of community participation in urban governance.
