Sudanese official: World Urban Forum 13 theme reflects the people’s aspirations and realities

A Sudanese official thanked Azerbaijan for hosting World Urban Forum 13 in Baku, saying the forum’s theme reflects the realities and aspirations of the Sudanese people. The Sudanese official made the remarks during the ministerial-level meeting titled “National Ministerial Statements - Ministerial Meeting on New Urban Agenda” held as part of the WUF13.
He noted that his Sudan, a nation with a rich history and significant potential, is currently confronting a humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the aggressive actions of the rebel Rapid Support Forces militias, which have devastated cities, damaged vital infrastructure, and displaced millions of people. The Sudanese official stressed the urgent need for reconstruction, while reaffirming the government’s commitment to recovery and announcing the upcoming “One Million Housing Units” project for Sudanese youth.
