Azerbaijani Deputy FM holds number of meetings in Cuba

Baku, June 17, AZERTAC
An Azerbaijani delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev has embarked on a visit to Havana, the Republic of Cuba.
During the visit, Deputy FM Fariz Rzayev has held a number of meetings with Cuban officials, including the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Ana Teresita González Fraga.
The meetings saw discussions on cooperation on multilateral platforms, including the United Nations (UN), Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and G-77 as well as opportunities for bilateral cooperation with respect to international development assistance.
The sides stressed the importance of coordinated actions between Azerbaijan as the Chair of the Non Aligned Movement and Cuba as the current Chair of the G-77, which will serve to protect interests of the member states of both institutions.
As part of the visit, a presentation highlighting Azerbaijan’s NAM Chairmanship as well as the country’s policy regarding international development assistance has been held for the ambassadors of island countries of the Caribbean accredited in Cuba.
The Azerbaijani delegation informed the participants about global call to support the post-pandemic recovery of Small Island Developing States declared by President Ilham Aliyev during the Baku-hosted Summit-level Meeting of Non-Aligned Movement Contact Group in response to COVID-19 held on March 2, 2023. As part of the call, Azerbaijan is allocating 1 million US dollars to support these states.
The meeting also focused on importance of consultations regarding the needs of the island countries in the post-pandemic period.
