Belarus, Uzbekistan approve joint action plan for agricultural cooperation

Belarus and Uzbekistan have approved a joint action plan for agricultural cooperation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
The ministry hosted a working meeting between Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Aleksandr Yakovchits and Uzbekistan’s delegation led by Orif Butayev, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Director of the Agency for Livestock Development and Pasture Management. The talks took place ahead of the 3rd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan.
The meeting culminated in the signing of an action plan aimed at increasing bilateral trade in food products and agricultural raw materials to $1 billion by 2030. The document outlines the intent of both sides to boost exports, utilize the mechanisms of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), and expand cooperation.
Trade dynamics confirm the partnership’s effectiveness: in January-April 2026, exports of Belarusian products to Uzbekistan surged by nearly 50%, with shipments of meat and dairy products showing a multi-fold increase. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of a major investment project to establish a full-cycle poultry production facility in Tashkent Region. The enterprise, whose products are already available across CIS markets, continues to scale up its operations relying on Belarusian technologies.
“We have reached a level of trust that allows us to skip formal pleasantries and move straight to substantive engagement,” Aleksandr Yakovchits emphasized. “We are focusing on deepening cooperation in livestock breeding without losing sight of crop production, and we aim for the comprehensive development of all sectors of the agricultural industry.”
Orif Butayev noted that relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan are developing rapidly on multiple levels. “Both sides still possess significant untapped potential, which we have no intention of putting off until 2030. The commitment and integrity of our partners allow us to bring joint projects to fruition well ahead of schedule,” he added.
The parties confirmed their readiness for further integration. The cooperation is set to gain new momentum with the signing of a memorandum of intent in agricultural industry, which will take place during the 3rd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan in Minsk.
