Austria hosts event on 5th anniversary of establishment of SOCAR`s Vienna office and Day of Oilmen
Baku, October 4 (AZERTAC). A reception marking 5th anniversary of establishment of the SOCAR`s Vienna office and Day of Oilmen has been held in Austria.
The event brought together state and government officials of Austria, MPs, representatives of UN, OPEK, OSCE, ambassadors of diplomatic corps accredited in Vienna, Azerbaijan`s several ambassadors in Europe, as well as heads of leading companies of Europe.
Head of SOCAR representative office in Austria Gulmirza Javadov briefed the participants on historic importance of oil in Azerbaijan, as well as the country`s experts role in development of world oil and gas industry.
On large scale projects implemented in gas sphere, Mr. Javadov highlighted “Shahdeniz 2” project.
Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Austria Gabil Israfilov praised increasing cooperation of Azerbaijan with Austria, as well as with other European countries in the energy sector and stressed the role of the country in ensuring energy security of Europe.
Chief Editor of Austrian based “Society” journal Gertrude Tauchhammer recalled his visits to Azerbaijan and hailed cooperation of Azerbaijan with the Austrian Embassy and the SOCAR office in Austria.
The event featured demonstration of video on “Azerbaijan: the country of future” and “Azerbaijan- the country miracle colours”.
Soloists of the Vienna Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra performed works by well-known Azerbaijani composers Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Tofig Guliyev.
The event also featured demonstration of video on Azerbaijan`s culture, as well as its music, national cuisine and oil history.
The participants received the books on Azerbaijan`s oil and gas history, as well as editions and materials published by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
A special corner was launched at the event to highlight Armenia`s aggression against Azerbaijan, as well as the Khojaly massacre committed by the Armenian Armed Forces.
The participants were also distributed the souvenirs and booklets on Azerbaijan and SOCAR, as well as documentaries entitled “Azerbaijan- the land of fire” and “Khojaly massacre”.
