AZERBAIJAN, POLAND DISCUSS SECURITY COOPERATION
Baku, February 19 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s Minister of National Security, Lieutenant-General Eldar Mahmudov has met Poland`s National Security Bureau Chief Aleksander Szczygło.
They discussed how the two countries could strengthen cooperation between their security authorities, in particular in counterterrorism efforts, fight against illegal circulation of drugs and illegal migration.
Both Mahmudov and Szczygło stressed the need to conduct exchange of information and experts.
The Azeri minister expressed confidence “the first visit of Polish security chief to Baku will contribute to further developing cooperation between the two bodies.”
Mahmudov highlighted Azerbaijan`s contribution to the international anti-terror war and fight against extremism.
Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mahmudov raised the awareness of his Polish counterpart of damages caused to Azerbaijan by the dispute.
Szczygło said Poland was keen to boost “overall friendly relations” with Azerbaijan.
The Polish security chief praised Azerbaijan`s “active” role in the international anti-terror coalition. He said Poland supported Azerbaijan`s “fair” stance on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Szczygło pointed out the conflict had to be solved on the basis of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity and international law principles.
