AZERI DEPUTY FM MEETS EXECUTIVE SECRETARY OF UN ECONOMIC COMMISSION FOR EUROPE
Baku, October 1 (AZERTAC). As part of his visit to Geneva, Azerbaijan`s Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov met Friday Jan Kubiš, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.
During the meeting, the sides praised the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Nations.
They said successful reforms were being carried out in the framework of the Economic Commission for Europe in energy, transport, environment, customs and ICT spheres.
The sides underlined the importance of drawing up new projects in the future.
Khalafov expressed concern over the construction of a new atomic power station in Armenia.
The Deputy Minister described the construction of the facility, which is planned to be built on the basis of the Metsamor Station, as a “serious threat to environmental, social and economic situation in the region”.
Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations at Geneva Murad Najafbayli was present at the meeting.
