GDP GROW 38% IN AZERBAIJAN
Gross Domestic Product in Azerbaijan made up 5.8 bln manats in January-May, up 38% on the same period last year, according to the State Stats Committee of Azerbaijan. The share of production sector in GDP went up 67.7% while services sector swelled to 30.7% in 2006, up 24.8% from a year ago.
There was a surplus profit of 3.3 billion manat in the industry over the past five months, 120.8 bln manats in forestry, 543.7 mln in the construction sector, 342.5 mln manats in the transport, 112 mln in the communications sector and 535.7 million manats in the social and other services.
GDP per capita jumped by 36.5% to 702.2 manats or USD 771.8. Nominal incomes of the population came to 4 bln manats, up by 19.6% from 663.7 million manats last year. Per capita income rose 18.3% to 485.1 manats. Per capita income averaged 95.1 manats only in May, up 16.6 manats from that in May 2005.
