“Increasing racism tendency in Europe” workshop held in Swedish Riksdag
Baku, August 20 (AZERTAC). A workshop titled “Increasing racism tendency in Europe” was held in Swedish Riksdag on Monday.
The event was organized by Alex Banxton, director general of the Expo Foundation, a privately-owned research foundation founded in 1995 with the aim of studying and mapping anti-democratic, right-wing extremist and racist tendencies in society and Swedish politician and Member of Parliament for the Liberal People`s Party Fredrik Malm.
Members of Congress of Azerbaijanis in Sweden, Emil Mirzayev and Isgender Sadik took part in the workshop.
In his address, head of the Foundation Alex Bangstone described the real picture of racism and extremism in Europe. He also spoke about how the civil society can fight against racism and extremism, and develop tolerance in society.
Following the workshop, Emil Mirzayev met Fredrik Malm, who lobbies interests of the Armenians and awarded with Honorary Medal of the Armenian National Assembly for “significant contribution to the “Armenian genocide” recognition by the Swedish parliament” ( http://www.panarmenian.net/eng/politics/news/67971/ ).
Mirzayev invited the Swedish MP to visit Azerbaijan and see the real situation in place - occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent districts, as a result of which over one million Azerbaijanis turned into refugees and IDPs.
