NINE REFUGEE CAMPS HAVE BEEN REMOVED IN AZERBAIJAN IN THE PAST THREE YEARS, ILHAM ALIYEV
Nine refugee camps have been removed in Azerbaijan in the past three years, President Ilham Aliyev said Tuesday during a meeting dedicated to problems of people displaced from their native lands as a result of Armenian military aggression against Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani leader noted that other three remaining camps will be eliminated by the end of 2007.
Ilham Aliyev said about nineteen thousand people living in refugee camps in Saatli, Sabirabad and Imishli regions will be placed in new settlements, and “there will be no refugee camps in Azerbaijan until the end of this year”.
The President also said that the problems of displaced people will be solved after the government makes amendments to the State Program adopted in 2004 to better living standards of refugees and IDPs.
