Azerbaijani athletes have claimed 17 medals on Day 1 of the 3rd Belt Wrestling European Championships held in Baku.

In the women`s event, Gozal Zutova seized a glory of the championships in the 76kg weight class. Parvin Huseynova clinched a silver, while Malakkhanim Mammadova, Fidan Aliyeva, Basti Safarova, Aytaj Guliyeva, Diana Shoranova and Shahla Allahverdiyeva grabbed bronze medals of the competition.

In the men`s event, Eyvaz Bakhshiyev, Tarlan Aghayev, Namig Abbasli and Soltan Aghayev bagged silvers for Azerbaijan, while Elnur Abdullayev, Ali Mikayilov, Ali Humbatzade, Nihad Mammadzade and Nihad Isgandarli earned bronze medals of the championships.

Held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, the 3rd Belt Wrestling European Championships runs from October 1 to 4.
