Baku hosts Azerbaijan-Latvia business forum
Baku, November 29 (AZERTAC). An Azerbaijan-Latvia business forum has been held in Baku with support of the Ministry of Economic Development and Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO).
The forum brought together the two countries` businessmen from the fields of finance, construction and building materials, food industry, agriculture, machine-building, transportation, tourism, industry, pharmaceutical, metallurgy, ports and logistics, trade, plastic and glass packaging.
Addressing the event, Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev said cooperation between Azerbaijan and Latvia were successfully developing. He noted relations between the two countries were based on principles for friendship and partnership.
He stressed the importance of the reciprocal visits for development of the bilateral ties.
The Azerbaijani minister also spoke of economic development of Azerbaijan and its achievements.
“About $135 billion were invested in the Azerbaijani economy since the country regained independence. Azerbaijan is one of the leading countries in the CIS and Eastern Europe in terms of foreign investments per capita and today the country is actively investing overseas” Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister said.
Speaking about the Azerbaijan-Latvian relations, the minister noted that the business forum will stimulate business initiatives and expand bilateral trade relations between the two countries.
In his part, Latvian Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis also touched upon the close relations between two countries, saying Latvia attaches great importance to cooperation with rapidly developing country-Azerbaijan. The PM also stressed that Latvia is interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in various fields, including logistics, agriculture, ICT and tourism ones.
AZPROMO chief Rufat Mammadov spoke about Azerbaijan’s business environment and investment opportunities, while the director of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) Andris Ozols made a speech on economy of Latvia.
