“ILHAM ALIYEV GUARANTEES STABILITY IN COUNTRY AND HAS SERIOUS CHANCES TO WIN FORTHCOMING ELECTIONS”, ALEXANDER PIKAYEV
“Ilham Aliyev guarantees stability in country and has serious chances to win forthcoming elections’, the known Russian political scientist, the expert of Institute of Economic and International Relations Alexander Pikayev stated in exclusive interview to correspondent of AZERTAC. “After Heydar Aliyev`s demise, there was a wide international consensus of Russia, the USA, the European states which have supported Ilham Aliyev`s candidacy on the post of the president of the country as it guaranteed peaceful transfer of power and stability in the country", the Russian political scientist noted.
As a whole, Alexander Pikayev considers, the Russian-Azerbaijani relations have enough pragmatic character. "It was possible to leave from their excessive politization, they are now free from emotional strike, and the parties try to solve available problems by pragmatic ways, in view of interests of each other. Of course, there is certain distinction in their interests connected, first of all, with the ways of oil-and-gas export. Here, to find consent, is, probably, difficult, but there are certain game rules which help to avoid unnecessary politization and confrontation", the political scientist emphasized.
According to A. Pikayev, between heads of two states there were warm and confidential relations, and good personal attitudes are very important point. "It is unconditional, the fact when there is presidential form of management, the presidents define the most part of political life in Russia and Azerbaijan. But, besides, there is also a big economic interest. And Azerbaijanis in Russia which do business, are much. Now, there are certain complexities with the new migratory legislation. Nevertheless, it has not damaged the Russian-Azerbaijan trade communications at the level of simple people. I think, that this is most important, that connects Russia and Azerbaijan, renders healthy influence on our relations as a whole, here, again there is a common interest that all this continued", A. Pikayev told.
Concerning the forecast how there will be the relations between Azerbaijan and Russia after presidential elections in Russia, the political scientist noted, that in the country, the continuity of foreign policy will really be kept, and Russia is interested in good relations with all neighbors, especially in the Caucasian region. I do not expect any negative consequences from the Russian elections for the Russian-Azerbaijani relations. I am confident, that these relations will develop and be kept, and Russia will value them and try to improve them", Mr. Alexander Pikayev stressed.
