MEETING OF GUAM NATIONAL COORDINATORS AND US OFFICIALS HELD IN WASHINGTON
A joint meeting of the GUAM National Coordinators and officials from the U.S. Department of State and other governmental structures was held in Washington, AZERTAC reports citing Moldavian AZI news website.
Moldova`s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Valeriu Ostalep, in his address, reaffirmed the need for consolidating the GUAM`s European component, including through possible inclusion of Polish and Japanese projects in the organization`s activities.
The meeting discussed the implementation of various projects within GUAM, in particular the activities of virtual GUAM Centers and their contribution to struggle against trans-border organized crime, consolidation of energy security, consolidation of the GUAM Secretariat, development and deepening of the GUAM-EU, GUAM-Poland, GUAM-Japan partnerships as well as prospects for further cooperation with the United States of America.
After the meeting, a conference of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development entitled "GUAM: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow" was held.
A special topic of the discussions was the assessment of the potential of Caspian Sea in the consolidation of the GUAM states` energy security, and the Nabucco project.
