UN Office for Partnerships chief gives lecture at Azerbaijan University of Languages
Baku, June 29 (AZERTAC). Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Partnerships Amir Dossal has given a lecture to students at the American Center of the Azerbaijan University of Languages.
He highlighted the UN’s history as well as activities of its institutions.
Dossal lauded Azerbaijan’s relations with the United Nations, saying the country is effectively cooperating with UN institutions.
He hailed Azerbaijan’s gaining a non-permanent member seat on the UN Security Council as an important chance for the country to show off its contributions to sustaining global peace and security.
On the Armenian-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Dossal stressed the necessity of establishing peace in the region.
He noted the UN Security Council resolutions demanding an unconditional withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the occupied Azerbaijani lands, adding he backs a peaceful settlement of the dispute.
The UN Office for Partnerships` Executive Director expressed hope that the OSCE Minsk Group and other mediators engaged in finding a solution to the Armenia-Azerbaijan stand-off would achieve successful results.
The lecture was followed by a question-and-answer session with Dossal.
