Arabia`s first supercar, W Motors Lykan Hypersport launched
Baku, February 6 (AZERTAC). The Middle East`s first super was launched at the 2013 Qatar Motor Show at 3.4 million USD or Rs 18.7 crore approximatey.
We all know the three things Arabs are most knob for - Oil, money and supercars. Considering all the three factors the middle east holds close to it`s heart, it was only about time that an ambitious manufacturer rose to the occasion and got a locally built supercar into the Middle eastern market - to compete with the likes of Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin or Bugatti.
And so, Middle East`s supposedly, first super carmaker W Motors have rolled out their first-ever model, the Lykan Hypersport at the 2013 Qatar Motor Show. Now, Supercars and Exclusivity are practically brothers-in-arms. And the Lykan Hypersport is firm on carrying forward that tradition. Only seven units of the Hypersport will be built and sold and each will retail for a staggering price of 3.4 million USD or Rs 18.7 crore approximately.
The overall design of the Lykan Hypersport shouts aggressive and features tight surfaces with sharp edges and crease lines. However, it is pretty evident that Lykan`s design shows influences from more established supercars like the R8 and the Aventodor.
To justify its lofty price tag, the Lykan will come with interiors lined in diamonds, gold and platinum. On the outside, there is diamond-coated LED headlights. W Motors have also decided to throw in a special edition Cyrus Klepcys watch that is valued at 200,000 USD or Rs 1.1 crore approximately.
Under the hood, is mid-mounted twin turbo flat six-cylinder engine that produces 755 PS of max power and a massive 1,000 Nm of peak torque. The 0 to 100 kmph mark is reached in mere 2.7 seconds with a top speed of 395 kmph.
We also hear, the range-topping Lykan Hypersport will be later joined this year by a Lykan Supersport.
W Motors was founded in Lebanon, but is now based in the UAE.
“Qatar is a perfect place to launch it because it`s a country that loves what we`re doing”, said the W Motors co-founder, Sari El Khalil. “We are choosing our customers carefully. It`s the first Arab car, we want Arabs driving our car. We`ve gotten interest from India, we`ve gotten interest from Moscow”, he added.
