FREDERIC STARR: “UNFORTUNATELY, NOBODY OPENLY STATES THAT THE NAGORNO-KARABAKH CONFLICT IMPEDES DEVELOPMENT ON SOUTHERN CAUCASUS”
Speaking that he does not wait from intermediary of the OSCE Minsk Group for anything new, Frederic Starr has told: “Steven Mann's appointment as the new American co-chair can become a step forward in the process. Ambassador Mann is a skilled, competent diplomat and well knows the region. I also should note, that many of us regret concerning activity of the Minsk Group.
It is represented to me, that between three co-chair countries - there is as oral understanding. As if they have agreed to meet sometimes, to have an effect on the international public and except for it nothing to do. The similar approach seems ridiculous. If 10 years ago Russia really wanted to solve the conflict, it would make it for a long time. Earlier, and the USA could not speak openly because of the various reasons with Russia on the conflict. However, now the position is another, it is necessary to go ahead. I think, that now the public assigns great hopes that the Nagorny Karabakh not will be undo though does not expect anything new from activity of the Minsk Group”.
