FRENCH MAGAZINE HIGHLIGHTS NATO’s IMPORTANT ROLE IN ENSURING SECURITY IN SOUTH CAUCASUS
Paris-based magazine “Diplomacy” has issued the article entitled “NATO and UN: guarantors of energy security”. The article devoted to energy security issues stressed the need for Europe to establish ties with oil-rich countries to get out of the energy crisis.
The article highlights the situation in the hot spots - Nagorno-Karabakh, Abkhazia, South Osetia, Chechenistan - that Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzerum gas pipelines run through.
The article narrates on the NATO summit in Riga held November 28, 2006, and the fact that South Caucasus nations make efforts to join the NATO with Azerbaijan already cooperating with the North-Atlantic Alliance.
The article focused on NATO’s role in ensuring security in the hot spots including Nagorno-Karabakh and transporting Azerbaijan’s energy resources to Europe via Turkey.
