Baku, August 17, AZERTAC
“Despite the support of the majority of member states and calls for the use of the “Aghdam-Khankendi” road proposed by Azerbaijan in order to eliminate the current claims about the “humanitarian situation” in the region, the Armenian Prime Minister’s refusal to accept the use of this road indicates Armenia’s intention to further aggravate the situation in the region,” Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in its statement regarding Nikol Pashinyan's distortion of the discussions held at the UN Security Council and of the statements delivered by the member states during his speech at the government meeting on August 17.
“The Armenian side should understand that the way to ensure peace and stability in the region is not to raise the issue in the UN Security Council with baseless claims, but to establish relations with neighboring countries based on the confirmation and respect of territorial integrity and sovereignty, and direct constructive negotiations with Azerbaijan to establish peace,” the ministry said.
