UltraLuxum CXL- the biggest cruising trimaran in the world
Baku, November 11 (AZERTAC). This year at the Monaco Yacht Show, there was plenty to admire for those who liked spending their breaks at sea. Luxury Yachts and catamarans, which are some of the exotic toys the uber-rich are accepting and investing in, have been seeing a lot of innovation and upgrades, which were then highlighted at the largest show of its kind, and amongst them was the UltraLuxum CXL trimaran- the biggest in the world so far. The particular project of the yacht was created on behalf of the Albert II Foundation and its Wood Forever programme.
With eco-friendly designs gaining more notes with brands around the world, there has been a surge in preference and a resultant surge in vehicular concepts of this kind, including yachts and boats. Keeping this underlining theme, UltraLuxum has created what is now stated to be the largest trimaran in the world, aided with the most modern of luxury and technology features. Beginning with the hull of this boat, it is a 48 meter long structure, created entirely out of carbon fiber, making the body weight (110 tons) of this enormous vessel rather light. This would mean lesser fuel consumption, and easier for the sails at full mast to take the vessel for a glide in the waters. Though there are vessels larger in size, the modern designing within ensures optimal usage of space, thus adding many more sources of comfort inside.
Since this trimaran has been a concept so far, it offers numerous flexibilities for those who wish to modify the design for either personal or official purposes.
On the technical front, the boat has 2 sailing modes. The first sailing mode enables the use of the extra side skirting on both sides, to operate with the hybrid diesel-electric engine powered with Lithium ion batteries. Along with the 55meter long sails, the top speed could go to 20 to 25 knots. As one may know, such a hybrid design would reduce the carbon footprint considerably. On the other hand, if the sails are not used and engine alone propel the vessel, 15 knots isn’t really a far cry and stated to be the ideal cruising speed.
For the credits, the team at Coste Design and UltraLuxum share the honors. Jean Francois Ruchonnet and Jessica Sbaraglia along with Jean Jacques Coste are the main ideates behind the trimaran.
