Andre Dzikus: It is impossible to ensure a sustainable future for cities without sustainable resource management
Baku, May 20, AZERTAC
“Humanity produces more than 400 million tons of plastic every year, with millions of tons finding their way into rivers, lakes, seas, and even into the human body,” said Andre Dzikus, Chief of the Urban Basic Services Section at UN-Habitat, during the event titled “Tackling Plastic Pollution: Promoting Liveable Cities and a Circular Economy,” organized by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources as part of WUF13.
Stressing that the starting point for UN-Habitat is clear, Andre Dzikus noted: “It is impossible to ensure a sustainable future for cities without sustainable resource management.”
