Parliaments of Azerbaijan and Belarus expand ties on international stage

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Natalya Kochanova, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, on the sidelines of the 60th plenary session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly held in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
The sides emphasized that relations between the two countries, based on the principles of friendship and mutual trust, are developing successfully across various areas. They noted that the sincere relationship between the heads of state, high-level mutual visits, and continuous political dialogue play a crucial role in elevating cooperation between Azerbaijan and Belarus to its current high level.
During the conversation, the sides highlighted the contribution of the legislative bodies to strengthening relations between the two countries and peoples, noting the successful continuation of interparliamentary cooperation.
Sahiba Gafarova recalled the recent visit of Igor Sergeyenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, to Azerbaijan and the meeting held between them, as well as her previous visits to Belarus and Natalya Kochanova’s visits to Baku. She noted that visits by parliamentary leaders and deputies further strengthen cooperation between the legislative bodies.
It was noted that while the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Belarus maintain productive bilateral cooperation, they also actively collaborate within international parliamentary organizations, including the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.
Highlighting the dynamic development of relations between the two countries in economic, trade, cultural, and other areas, Natalya Kochanova said that interparliamentary ties make a significant contribution to the further expansion of bilateral cooperation.
