Azerbaijan joins Turkic Green Finance Council’s meeting in Astana

Shahin Mahmudzade, Executive Director of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), attended the second meeting of the Turkic Green Finance Council, a forum established by member states of the Organization of Turkic States to promote cooperation on sustainable finance, in Astana, Kazakhstan.
“Mahmudzade outlined initiatives underway in Azerbaijan to expand green finance and said regional cooperation would be important to building the infrastructure and capacity needed to support the sector.
Representatives at the meeting discussed ways to expand green and sustainable finance across the Organization of Turkic States, including measures to promote nature-based solutions and strengthen regional cooperation.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a communiqué outlining plans to broaden the council’s areas of work.
Azerbaijan’s Central Bank joined the Turkic Green Finance Council in 2024. The Council aims to advise member institutions on advancing green and sustainable finance and encouraging investment that takes into account environmental, social and governance, (ESG) factors,” the bank said on X.
