Cooperation between Azerbaijan and D-8 expands in media literacy and information security

On May 20, a bilateral meeting was held at the Media Development Agency with the Secretary-General of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, who is in Azerbaijan to participate in the 13th Session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF13).
During the meeting, Executive Director of the Agency Ahmad Ismayilov emphasized the importance of expanding media cooperation among the D-8 member states, as well as promoting the exchange of experience between media entities and relevant institutions responsible for the sector. He noted that in the modern information ecosystem, strengthening media literacy, establishing coordinated action mechanisms against misinformation and disinformation, and developing a professional and sustainable media environment under conditions of digital transformation are of particular relevance.
Secretary-General of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation Sohail Mahmood highlighted the necessity of promoting mutual visits, professional exchange programs, joint media initiatives, and shared projects in the media sector among D-8 member states. He noted that expanding cooperation opportunities in the field of media content production and distribution, as well as the responsible application of innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence solutions, holds special significance in the modern era.
At the same time, the organization of the activities of the D-8 Media Center of Excellence and its potential to function as a platform for coordinated communication initiatives were discussed, and future prospects for joint cooperation in the field of media and information security were reviewed.
