OECD official highlights importance of nature-based solutions for sustainable cities
Baku, May 20, AZERTAC
Greater mobilization of private sector financing and investment is crucial, since the government sector alone cannot satisfy all existing demands. In parallel, monitoring and evaluation systems need to be further strengthened, said Claudia Baranzelli, Coordinator of the Geospatial Analysis team and the Geospatial Lab at the OECD’s Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions and Cities, in her remarks at the session titled “Transit Oriented Development (TOD) and Urban Green Spaces for Sustainable Urban Development” held as part of the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13).
She emphasized that nature-based solutions must be integrated into decision-making and planning processes from the outset, including project selection, public engagement, and performance evaluation, to better understand how cities function over time.
