Development of public spaces and green areas is of key importance for modern megacities, says Dutch urbanist
Baku, May 20, AZERTAC
The development of public spaces and green areas is of key importance for modern megacities, Pepijn van Loon, an urbanist from the Netherlands, said in an interview with AZERTAC.
He noted that, amid rapid urbanization, cities are becoming increasingly dense and congested, making it more difficult for people to find places for rest and recovery.
According to him, modern megacities often face challenges such as high temperatures, overcrowding, and a lack of comfortable recreational areas, which is why the presence of green spaces is becoming particularly important.
He emphasized that such areas have a direct impact on the quality of life of residents, allowing people to relax, spend time in nature, and experience a more comfortable urban environment.
In conclusion, Pepijn van Loon added that the ability to enjoy one’s city is an essential component of people’s well-being and everyday life.
