Integrating sports into urban policy and planning enhances health and well-being
Baku, May 20, AZERTAC
“Currently, global challenges predominantly manifest within dense urban environments,” said Laura Chinchilla, former President of Costa Rica and Permanent Observer of the International Olympic Committee to the United Nations.
According to her, 70 percent of the global population is projected to live in cities by 2050. “This will further amplify existing challenges. Joint action is imperative. Sport is a low-cost, yet high-impact tool that accelerates development across social, economic, and environmental spheres. Integrating sports into urban policy and planning enhances health and well-being,” she added.
