Mayor of South African city of Tshwane: Infrastructure needs to be strengthened to develop the economy
Baku, May 20, AZERTAC
“We learned about the implementation of municipal support in Cape Town. We suffered financial difficulties during COVID, living with a 4 million budget deficit. We conducted our first audit and market research four years ago,” said Nasiphi Moya, Executive Mayor of the South African city of Tshwane, during the event titled “Bankable Municipalities, Livable Cities” as part of WUF13.
“We have decided that we need to develop our economy and, for this, infrastructure needs to be strengthened. We need to optimize our audit results and enter markets such as the World Bank. Poor people cannot be left out. Both social issues and electricity issues should be considered together,” the Mayor of Tshwane added.
