Baku, May 20, AZERTAC
Within the framework of WUF13, Morocco's National Agency for Urban Renewal and Renovation of Derelict Buildings (ANRUR) organized a panel discussion dedicated to urban regeneration and the improvement of living environments.
In a statement to AZERTAC, Sara Arbaoui, Head of the Urban Renewal Department, architect, and urban planning expert, noted that a presentation on the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in urban planning was delivered during the panel. This was followed by a round-table discussion focused on urbanization and the living environment. The event was attended by representatives from the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), Saudi Arabia's Arab Urban Development Institute, and the UN Human Settlements Programme mission in Kenya.
Sara Arbaoui noted that the discussions primarily centered on interventions carried out in historic urban areas and deteriorated neighborhoods. "We are no longer talking solely about physical renewal. The goal is a broader and integrated approach. Along with construction work, this encompasses the creation of green spaces, the expansion of public services, and the entire infrastructure necessary to ensure that people live in a more sustainable and humane environment," she emphasized.
