Judiciary independence makes people confident that they will be treated fairly in the courts. The court is the structure where the rights of the people are protected, judge of US Federal Court Timothy Burgess told journalists in Baku.
Burgess conducted a 7-day training for judicial candidates in Azerbaijan.
He noted that the aim of the training is to instill a sense of responsibility in the candidates. Burgess underlined that the main focus was not only on the judicial independence but also on the ethical norms that the candidates should observe. According to him, the training will help improve professional skills of prospective judges. He stressed that US embassy and Department of Justice will continue to organize such trainings as Azerbaijan is an important country for the United States.
