1st session of IV Congress of leaders of world and traditional religions started in Astana
Baku, May 30 (AZERTAC). Today, 4th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions took place in Astana in 2012. The subject «Peace and accord as a choice of humankind» was chosen as the main theme of IV Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

Addressing the fourth Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions here, President Nursultan Nazarbayev said in a statement that the event will go down in history as an important part of global dialogue.
"With all the complexities of the global development, strong impulses for dialogue remain to be popular trends of contemporary global processes. I'm convinced the IV Congress will go down in history as an important part of the global dialogue leading to the attainment of the foundations of a just world order in 21st century," he emphasized.
The two-day event, which is being held in Astana from today, will see the participation of 87 delegations from 40 countries. in 2009 the III Congress brought together 77 delegations of 35 countries. This time the number of participants is expected to be more than that.
Among the dignitaries of the Fourth congress will be the president of the World Islamic League Sheikh Abdallah Ben Muhsin at-Turki, representative of king of Saudi Arabia, Chairman of the Consultative Council of this country Abdallah al Ash-Sheikh, chief imam of Al-Azghar Sheikh Ahmad Muhammad at-Taiib, patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill, Secretary General of the World Lutheran federation Martin Junge and many other well-known religious leaders.
The program of the Congress will include two panel sessions on May 30:"The role of religious leaders in achieving sustainable growth," "Religion and multiculturalism" and two panel sessions on May 31: Religion and woman: spiritual values and contemporary challenges," "Religion and the youth".
Islam will be represented by delegations from Egypt, Iran, Turkey, Libya, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. From the Christian faiths, representatives from Catholic, Anglican, Russian Orthodox, Constantinople Orthodox, Romanian Orthodox and the Lutheran World Federation will attend.
