DELEGATION OF AZERBAIJAN PARTAKES IN WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM IN JORDAN
The delegation of Azerbaijan led by Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov participated in the World Economic Forum on the Middle East held 18-20 May in Amman, Jordan.
The forum gathered over 1200 people representing officials and businessmen from 55 countries.
The event started with opening remarks by King of Jordan Abdullah II. King of Jordan spoke about the significance of the event for the Middle East region, importance of settling socio-economic problems in the region, peace talks on the Arab-Israel conflict and resolute steps to achieve a peace in the region as well as other problems of international and regional importance.
The first forum on the Middle East took place in 2003 in Jordan and has been held annually since then. The next forum is scheduled to take place in the Egyptian city of Sharm El Sheikh, and in 2009 again in Jordan.
Azerbaijan’s ambassador in Jordan Elman Arasly was present at the meeting the Azerbaijani delegation held on the sidelines of the forum.
