Exhibition on Karabakh opened in US
Baku, June 23 (AZERTAC). School of Art of the George Mason University in Virginia, US opened a joint exhibition of Azerbaijani and American artists called “Let`s color the world together”.
According to the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan, the exhibition has been realized within the framework of the project “Let`s color the world together. The colors of Azerbaijani`s Nagorno Karabakh” implemented by “Unquenchable Flame” Cultural Relations Public Union.
The project has been carried out under the financial assistance of the Council of State Support for NGOs under the President of Azerbaijan, the State Committee on Work with Diaspora and Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL).
The exhibition held on June 6-22 demonstrated works by Azerbaijani young painters Narmina Valiyeva, Yegana Valiyeva, Shahla Gahramanli, and Leyla Rzayeva.
Gallery Director at University`s Center for the Arts Walter Kravitz praised the works of the painters, and thanked the Azerbaijani artists for delivering a part of their culture to the American community through this way.
Shahla Nagiyeva, chairwoman of “Unquenchable Flame” Cultural Relations Public Union and professor of the Azerbaijan University of Languages said that the artists call the world to the friendship, love, peace and to say no to conflicts with the help of colors` language in the globalized world.
The key topic of the most works is Karabakh. “The Shusha Mosque”, “Karabakh horse”, “Khari Bulbul”, “Coloured spirits” are also reflecting indelible imprints of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition featured demonstration of a documentary in the English language entitled “Welcome to Azerbaijan”.
Books on Azerbaijani history, the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and the Khojaly tragedy sent by the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan were presented to the library of the university.
Supporters of the project at the US George Mason University and Karabakh Foundation in Washington have carried out run-up work for organization of the exhibition. The US press widely covered the exhibition and the society approached with a great interest.
The exhibition has been in spotlight of the US mass media.
