The president of the country Jacques Chirac, having reduced on one day his visit to Sochi for a meeting with the President of Russia and the Chancellor of Germany, was engaged in release of journalists. Acting on local TV and radio, the head of the country has demanded unconditional and prompt release of both, having informed, that in this connection has given to Minister of Foreign Affairs Michel Barnier a special assignment.

The head of the French diplomacy has left for Egypt, Qatar and Baghdad, held meetings with the state heads and religious figures of these countries and asked them to use the influence for release of hostages.

It is possible to tell on all country there are going meetings of solidarity with the requirement to release taken in hostages Christian Sheno and George Malbrunu. On August 30, on the initiative of chairmen of Assembly National and the Senate Jean – Luis Debre and Christian Ponsele was held a large meeting in Paris. One more meeting has been organized before the “House of Radio”. Participants of meeting have demanded prompt release of both journalists.

Leaders of political parties of the country, expressing the attitude to the said question, also have acted with statements with the requirement to release the innocent journalists.

World community, including the European Union, official circles, religious figures of such Arabian countries as Egypt, Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon, have condemned this act.

It has to be noted that in the video-recording shown at the night on 30 to 31 August on the Al-Jazeera TV, the appeal of one of the journalists seized in hostages - Christian Sheno to the President of the country Jacques Chirac about a cancellation of the decision forbidding to Muslim girls in France to attend school in a head scarf has sounded.

By the way, we shall note, that term of the ultimatum, presented to the government of France in connection with the journalists seized in hostages, has been prolonged at 24 o'clock.
