MEMBERS OF AZERBAIJAN-IRAN WORKING GROUP ON INTER-PARLIAMENTARY TIES MEET IRANIAN MPs
Baku, November 9 (AZERTAC). Members of Azerbaijan-Iran working group on inter-parliamentary ties met today Iranian delegation led by chairman of the Islamic Consultative Assembly`s Commission Suleyman Jafarzade.
Deputy Chairman of the working group Eldar Ibrahimov said relations between Azerbaijan and Iran started to develop after national leader Heydar Aliyev came to power.
According to him, documents signed during reciprocal visits by the two countries` leaders created strong legal basis for expansion of bilateral cooperation.
He noted the two countries` parliaments should take more vigorous steps to deepen bilateral ties.
Suleyman Jafarzade, in turn, said there are historical, religious, cultural and spiritual ties between Azerbaijan and Iran, and “we, as parliamentarians, must contribute to strengthening these ties”.
He expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral political relationship, and stressed the necessity of developing economic cooperation.
Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Jafarzade said his country has always supported Azerbaijan`s “just stance”, and will continue to do so.
The sides underlined the importance of intensifying reciprocal visits.
