Baku, March 13, AZERTAC
The second day of the 13th Global Baku Forum featured a panel discussion on “Accelerating the 2030 Agenda: Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Connectivity.”
The panel session was moderated by Walter Fust, Director-General of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Member of the UN-ICT Task force and former Chair of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Council for the Development of Communication.
In his remarks, former Prime Minister of Moldova Chiril Gaburici said advances in technology, infrastructure, and innovation provide societies with powerful tools. “These tools facilitate the development of solutions including clean energy systems, digital infrastructure access, and local data monitoring, thereby contributing to building more resilient and inclusive societies,” he added.
According to Rania Al-Mashat, former Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation of Egypt, noted that to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), countries must first clearly define their national priorities and strengthen policies directed toward these areas.
“One of the main trends currently observed in the world is the strengthening of global fragmentation, and this process creates additional challenges for international cooperation. This fragmentation manifests itself at several levels, and their interconnection makes the situation even more complex,” said Jiri Rusnok, former Prime Minister of the Czech Republic.
Other speakers included Kailash Satyarthi; Nobel Peace Prize Laureate; Zlatko Lagumdzija, former Deputy Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Justin Lin, Dean of the Institute of New Structural Economics, and Igor Lukšić, former Prime Minister of Montenegro, Permanent Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN.
