RE-RUN OF PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS IN AZERBAIJAN MEET INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS - VLADIMIR GARKUN
He said his mission consisting of 29 observers representing Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Tajikistan and a number of other CIA member-countries began its work in Baku on April 24 to monitor run-up to the elections. On the election day, according to him, they monitored voting process in 122 polling stations of 9 election districts except for Agdam village polling station #119. “All of the polling stations were provided with uninterrupted electricity, computers and other necessary equipment, and so, every condition for the people to vote freely,” he said. Garkun said that the voting process was also monitored by over 150 international and nearly 5.500 local observers, adding his mission witnessed once again the country’s moving towards democracy.
“Despite there were slight violations, which could not influence the outcome of the elections, CIS observation mission confirmed that the repeat elections were free, transparent and in accordance with electoral law,” he finalized.
Other members of the mission Anatoliy Lokot and Alexander Maloletov confirmed that the elections met high standards expressing confidence that their results will be for Azerbaijani people’s good.
