Baku, January 13, AZERTAC
“In terms of logistics, since April 2016, line pipes continue to arrive to the Durres main marshalling yard (MMY) via the Durres port. Up to now, approximately 65% of the 13,000 line pipes needed to build the 215 km Albanian section have been delivered,” TAP Head of Communications Lisa Givert told AZERTAC.
“TAP’s route through Albania will be approximately 215 km onshore and 37 km offshore in the Albanian section of the Adriatic Sea. It starts at Bilisht Qender in the Korca region at the Albanian border with Greece, and arrives at the Adriatic coast 17 km north-west of Fier, 400 meters inland from the shoreline.”
Approximately 13,000 pipes will be used for the construction of pipeline section in Albania. 90% of the total number of pipes that will be used for the Albanian section of the pipeline will measure 18 metres and 10% 12 metres. The inside diameter of each pipe is 1.22 metres. The weight of one 18-metre pipe is about 16,900 kg.
