“NEW SILK ROAD BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES” CONFERENCE HELD IN CHICAGO
Organized by the Central Asian Productivity Research Center and the Pakistani Club, and cosponsored by the Office of the Commercial attaché, Consulate General of Turkey; and the Commercial Section, Consul of Pakistan in Chicago, the full day conference included networking sessions, presentations by the Council-Generals and a presentation by a senior official of the Asian Development Bank.
The conference offers ideal business environment for experienced international business executives, “new-to-export” and “new-to-market” companies.
Countries participating include: Azerbaijan, China, India, Kazakhstan, Pakistan Turkey and the United States.
The combined population of these countries, excluding the United States, is 2.8 billion people, which is about half of the world population; GDP s (PPP terms) is 10 trillion US Dollars; and total foreign trade (export plus import) is 7.6 trillion US Dollars.
In his presentation, Elin Suleymanov, Council-General of Azerbaijan in Los-Angeles, said his country’s policy is based on the whole region’s interests and mutually advantageous partnership relationships.
Council-General of Turkey Kanan Ipek, who spoke of successful cooperation of regional countries, touched upon non-constructive stance of Armenian authorities, and called them to withdraw their armed forces from Azerbaijan’s occupied territories.
Pakistani Commercial Attaché in Chicago Asad Khayaudin told of strategic potential of Caspian region, describing Azerbaijan as the most attractive country of the Silk Road for investment.
“The cobweb of the ancient camel routes has given away to a new cobweb of oil and gas lines, new highways, and new rail systems. There are new opportunities in the rapidly expanding energy field. The region boats 20% of the world’s oil reserves and 33% of the global gas reserves,” commented by Harry Lepinske, CAPRS Chairman.
