PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES AMBASSADOR OF GERMANY IN BAKU KLAUS GREWLICH AND DEFENSE AND SECURITY EXPERT WILHELM HERMANN
Greeting the guests, President Ilham Aliyev remembered with satisfaction his last visit to Brussels in connection with the European Union’s events. Speaking of the intensive integration of Azerbaijan into Europe, the Head of State noted that there was a good basis both for development of relations with the European Union and successful implementation of neighborhood policy with this organization. In this regard, he described the negotiations on energy, security and other spheres held during the mentioned events as very fruitful.
President Ilham Aliyev has highly appreciated Ambassador Klaus Grewlich’s contribution to the process of Azerbaijan’s integration into the European Union and other European structures.
Touching upon his recent stay in Istanbul in the framework of the NATO Summit, the Azerbaijan’s leader noted that this visit had also been successful and allowed to tell the international community of the country’s problems and achievements.
Ambassador Klaus Grewlich expressed gratitude to the Head of State for the warm meeting and informed him on the press conference he had held on the occasion of expiration of German Embassy’s mission in the capacity of EU representative office in Baku.
Touching on President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Brussels, he stressed the great importance of Azerbaijan’s direct involvement in the European events for successful implementation of the neighborhood policy. The Ambassador also appreciated the Azerbaijan President’s participation in the NATO Summit in Istanbul.
Then, Ambassador Grewlich introduced German defense and security expert Dr. Wilhelm Hermann to President Ilham Aliyev.
During the meeting held in a warm and sincere atmosphere, a number of other issues of mutual interest have been discussed, as well.
