Washington, February 6 (AZERTAC). The Energy Security Initiative (ESI) at the Brookings Institution hosted a forum titled “A Discussion with the Experts of Energy and Security: Strategies for a World in Transition”.
The event was joined by representatives of various scientific-research centers, including Charles K. Ebinger, Director of Energy Security Initiative, Jan Kalicki, Senior Scholar, Woodrow Wilson Center, Counselor for International Strategy, Chevron, David L. Goldwyn, Nonresident Senior Fellow, Foreign Policy, Energy Security Initiative, Phillip Van Niekerk, President and Managing Partner, Calabar Africa, Charles McPherson, Global Faculty, University of Dundee, Scotland, Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy.
The event focused on a variety of urgent issues, including the rising agenda of safety concerns across the energy complex, infrastructure for modernizing power grids, climate security in the current political and economic environment.
The participants also touched upon new oil fields found in Africa which supplies 9 percent of energy demand in the globe.
They said over 1.4 billion people are still without access to electricity worldwide. The experts thanked the energy exporting countries for their contribution to the energy security.
