Computer software writes better story than a real sports journalist
Baku, April 19 (AZERTAC). Computer Program Narrative Science wrote sports news is better than fellow news editorial, said on Sunday, April 17, NPR.
Narrative Science handles input data into it (including figures) and creates news stories based on this.
Superiority over the human editing program was established by writing notes on a baseball game between the University of Virginia and George Washington University.
Victory in the match were a team at the University of Virginia, though it was not some kind of game, and "perfect game" - in baseball, this means that the pitcher was on the field at least nine innings (the period when one team or player batter) without making mistakes, so that none of the opponents failed to reach the base. In fact, in a match the players one of the teams in general have never hit the ball.
Similar to the National Collegiate Athletic Association was the first time since 2002, so that sports journalists expect that this fact gets in the headlines. However, in a note published on the website of George Washington University, about the remarkable fact was mentioned only in the penultimate paragraph.
Then, the creators of Narrative Science decided to install if I can have them write programs that news is better. They entered into the program the necessary data, and the most important information found in the headline and the first lines of the news. That is, the program acted as a good journalist would do. The creators of the program have expressed confidence that the Narrative Science is capable of more.
