WhatsApp to drop support for older iOS versions and iPhone models starting May 2025

Starting May 5, 2025, WhatsApp will drop support for versions older than iOS 15.1, affecting users with iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, according to WABetaInfo.
Users with newer iPhone models will still be able to access the app as long as they are on the latest available iOS version.

In a recent notification, WhatsApp has informed users on older versions of iOS that their devices will no longer be supported next year. This change will primarily affect iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users, as the last iOS update available for these device models is iOS 12.5.7. These devices were released over 10 years ago, so the number of users still running WhatsApp on these models might be minimal. For users with newer iPhone models, those running an iOS version below 15.1 will still be able to update to the latest iOS release and use WhatsApp even after the change takes effect.
