Beijing, March 28, AZERTAC
An international scientific conference titled "Dunhuang Culture, Bamboo Manuscripts, and the International Promotion of Chinese Culture" has been held in the city of Dunhuang, China.
More than 100 participants from six countries attended the conference. Agshin Aliyev, Head of the Azerbaijani Language Department at Beijing Foreign Studies University and PhD in Philology, delivered a keynote speech dedicated to Azerbaijan-China cultural relations. The speaker noted that the "Joint Declaration on the Establishment of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People's Republic of China," signed in April 2025, marked the beginning of a new stage in the development of cultural cooperation between the two nations. Historical ties between these two ancient countries located on the Silk Road have consistently been a focus for Azerbaijani scholars and thinkers. Dunhuang, as a vital hub of the Silk Road, has historically played a special role in shaping cultural dialogue among countries along this route and continues to successfully fulfill this mission today.
The rapporteur emphasized the significance of mutual translation in the development of cultural relations and analyzed the current state of cooperation between Azerbaijan and China in this field.
Agshin Aliyev also highlighted the role of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in strengthening cultural contacts between the two countries. He provided detailed information about the distance Chinese language teaching project, implemented since 2019 at the Foundation's initiative, and its successful results.
